Craniosacral Therapy (CST)

What is Craniosacral Therapy?

CST releases restrictions deep within your body, in tissues that directly surround and protect your Central Nervous System (brain and spinal cord), the deepest kind of connective tissue. To do this, the least amount of pressure is required, along with developed palpatory skills, to assess the fluidity of these tissues. Your Central Nervous System (CNS) is the control center for your whole body. When these restrictions are released, the fluid that your CNS bathes in, can function more optimally by intuitively providing nutrients to the areas that need it and removing wastes more effectively. This stimulates the healing process and reboots your CNS, thus giving the power back to your innate body intelligence. When your nervous system can properly identify restrictions and/or harmful patterns caused by trauma in the body, it can correct them itself for a more effective and longer lasting effect.

What does a typical session look like?

You will be fully clothed laying on your back while I place my hands lightly around sutures (joints) in your head, along your spine and other joints in your body, for up to 20 minutes sometimes in one position, to let your tissues fully unwind and release. Every session is totally unique to the person and what that session needs.

What does a typical session feel like?

Some people feel grand movements going on in their body from tissues releasing and others just feel like they woke up from a deep sleep or like they want to go for a deep sleep after the session. It is recommended to not have a big day planned after CST.

What does CST help with?

Craniosacral Techniques can help with so many conditions because it's focusing on balancing the nervous system which is in control of every other system in the body

Here are some examples:

-Neck/Back Pain

-Sleeping Problems

-Digestive Issues

-Multiple Sclerosis & other Central Nervous System Disorders

-& many other conditions

Craniosacral Therapy and Cancer

Cancer treatments are quite hard on the body and I believe Craniosacral Therapy is a wonderful tool to help the body orientate back to health and give the client their own healing power back. CST is a nice therapy for people who need extremely light to no pressure and is safe for people with osteoporosis or fragile tissues from radiation. With conventional treatment being so invasive, CST is nice modality to add because it is extremely non-invasive, enhances the body’s own natural healing process and can give the client a clear mind to feel prepared enough to tackle the next task ahead.

Cancer Symptoms CST can help with:

-stress/tension from emotional fears

-pain & headaches

-nausea, dizziness, ringing in the ears

-nerve pain, numbness, tingling

-gastrointestinal problems

-sleeping problems

-mental fatigue or “chemo-brain”

-coordination & balance

-jaw pain

-fascial restrictions & decreased range of motion from surgery

CST & Cancer Testimonials

"When I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer last year I was immersed in a series of craniosacral sessions. I was feeling so many benefits from these sessions already that I continued using craniosacral as much as I could during the conventional treatments, once every 2 weeks and sometimes once a week. Craniosacral therapy has given me a close relationship with my body, and I now understand on an experiential level that my body has the wisdom to heal itself. The most important lesson is feeling how much vitality I have in my body and seeing myself as a whole, healthy person rather than concentrating on the part that isn't working at the moment. My doctors were astonished with the minimal side-effects I experienced while on chemotherapy and how fast my body recovered. I attribute this to the craniosacral sessions."

"What a great new experience...supplemental to my cancer treatments for only a few weeks with Craniosacral Therapy, I find my muscle tremors have dramatically ceased, my range of mobility has improved, in addition to decreasing pain levels, I feel stronger; sleeping better and my body actually responds like its rejuvenating.  Through my journey of radiation, chemotherapy, a stem cell transplant, relapsing cancer and now ongoing chemotherapy and steroid treatments -  Craniosacral Therapy has had such a positive and calming effect.  I highly recommend craniosacral therapy for everyone and especially those struggling through pain and discomfort!"
